What type of pedal bicycles are provided?

We use Cannondale, Jamis, and Caloi comfort bikes. Each is 21-speed with a soft saddle, 26" wheel, and upright touring bike. We have five sizes and will custom-fit the cycle for you based on gender and height. The seat posts and front forks have suspensions, which makes for a very comfortable ride.  We also have small bikes with a lowered top bar for the smaller riders and provide helmets. We will need each rider's gender and height so that we do need to bring all the bikes!

Where do we meet for the tour?
We arrange to meet you at a safe, convenient place where you can leave your vehicle. Directions to our meeting location will be given when you make your reservation via email. We'll also give your guide's cell phone number, just in case.

  • Everglades Bicycle Tour has several meeting locations in Fakahatchee Strand Preserve.
  • Old Naples Tour will meet in downtown Naples - typically near 3rd Ave & Broad.
  • Marco Island tour leaves from the Engle Dental back parking lot on San Marco Road.

What should I wear/bring?
Wear seasonal-appropriate, comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes or hiking sandals, and optional items - sunscreen, a camera, and a hat with a visor. There is a handlebar bag for your camera, wallet, sunscreen, etc.  Purses or large bags must be left in your vehicles at your own risk.  All gear needs to be stowed in the handlebar bag. Backpacks and hip packs are allowed. We provide water, snacks during the ride, refreshments, and a cool wipe at the end of the ride. Riders needing any special dietary requirements will need to bring those with them. Personal helmets and clip pedals can be accommodated, and cycling attire is always appropriate. The only don'ts we have found are - don't wear short shorts like running shorts. They ride up the leg, and the saddle will chafe.

Will we see alligators? Other animals?

Depending on the availability of water, time of day, air temperature, and a bit of luck, we see

alligators almost all the time on the Everglades Guided Eco Tour.  Other wildlife you can keep

an eye out for, depending on the tour: eagles, owls, heron, osprey, alligators, manatee, sharks,

jellyfish, tortious turtles, bears, mink, otter, butterflies, and even the endangered Florida Panther.

We respect these creatures and will observe them from a safe vantage point.

Do not expect to feed the wild alligators, as it is illegal.

Will bugs be a problem?
Our city tours have none & our Everglades tours have mostly none.  During the winter, we have no mosquitoes, and during the summer, we ride in an area near fresh water. The freshwater mosquito has natural predators that keep the population down.  We do not spray until necessary & spray is available from your guide.

How long and strenuous are the tours? What if it is too much?
The average Guided city tour is approximately 2 hours long, and the distance traveled on the bikes is from 8 to 12 miles, depending on the group's speed.  The Everglades Guided Cycling Tour is approximately 3 hours long.  These are scenic tours designed for all riding levels.  There is always something for each rider to enjoy as you pedal along. You need to be able to ride a bicycle in control as we will be on city streets or park roads and trails.
We will not make your ride over your ability. We are accommodating and will do all we can to ensure you have a great experience.

Can I bring small children?
We cannot accommodate small children due to the size of bicycles in our fleet.  For our pedal bicycle tour, riders must be 58" or taller and 12 years of age or older.  All riders must have adequate cycling ability to control their bicycles and always wear helmets.

What can we do to help the environment?

We also adhere to the "leave no trace" policy and ask you to. We recycle everything we can,  and there is a bin for trash if needed.

The environment and conservation is our passion!  At our heart, we are an eco-friendly company providing. "green" low-impact self-propelled tours in some of the country's most beautiful and exciting natural areas.

What about the weather?
Southwest Florida is a sub-tropical environment.  Storms roll in and out all year round, for the most part. Tours will not be canceled due to light rain & rain ponchos are available for each rider. Tours may be canceled before the time at the tour director's discretion due to forecast heavy rain/lightning.

What is your cancellation policy?
Credit cards are charged in full at the time of booking.  We allow cancellations at no cost more than 24 hours before the tour.  We do not offer refunds within 24 hours, but you can rebook for $20 per rider to another day with a minimum of 4 riders. If you need to cancel, please call the office at 239-580-7960 to make arrangements.
